26th April 2015 was this year’s date for national Drive it Day, organised by the FBHVC and encouraging historic cars out onto the roads of Britain. SWMC joined in, with an impressive nine vehicles taking to the roads of Dumfries and Galloway.
We met at the medieval Caerlaverock Castle near Glencaple for tea and scones, before taking an ambling route through Dumfries and on to Hoddom Castle near Lockerbie for lunch. On route we stopped off at Kingholm Quay to visit the tall ship La Malouine, in for a refit, and also at the ruins of Lochmaben Castle.
A Top Trumps quiz, in which teams had to guess missing information from 1970s car cards, was won by Team Oscar! The winning team were presented with a top prize of a Simoniz Valet Kit, whilst the bottom team won a sponge!
